Cape Town - Windhoek: from the Cape into the heart of Namibia.
From Cape Town, the "Green Queen", into the vast valley and bizarre massifs of the hinterland, to Fish River Canyon, to the highest dunes in the world and finally to Windhoek, with its colonial flair: this route is an unforgettable adventure for motorcycling fans who wish to experience something special. Passing trough the luscious green wine-growing landscape, we climb up the Bainskloof- and Gydo-Pass to CItrusdal, well known for its excellent oranges.
An exquisite trail then takes us through the Namaqualand region, which turns into a sea of flowers in September, to Clanwilliam ans Springbok. Against the backdrop of huge, craggy rocks, we follow the Oranje River to the roaring Augrabies Falls and enter the fascinating desert and river landscape along the banks of the Oranje. On difficult and varying tracks, we continue on - apparently into the middle of nowhere - to Klein Pella, a huge date plantation.
We cross the border to Namibia and continue to Fish River Canyon, which stretches for 160km through the Koubis Mountains. Along the dusty Namibian "pads", the Enduros take us to Luderitz and through the Sossuvlei clay pan into the Namib desert, where the highest dunes in the world tower before us, crimson in colour. We draw on our last energy reserves to wind our way in tight bends across the Kuisib Pass. Here we come to Cape Cross, the home of the countless seal colonies. The last day takes us to Windhoek, the picturesque capital at the heart of the central highlands and the final destination of the first version of this trip with its powerful impressions.
